Elizabeth Kappus, DVM
Chief of Staff
Dr. Elizabeth Kappus grew up in southern Arkansas where riding horses and working at the local veterinary clinic were a huge part of her life.
Dr. Kappus developed an interest in veterinary medicine at an early age as she watched her grandfather (a retired veterinarian) care for the family’s horses and dogs. She received her Bachelor in Animal Science in 2005 from the University of Arkansas at Monticello and her DVM from Louisiana State University in 2009. Dr. Kappus was first employed in South Louisiana as an ambulatory equine veterinarian. After having her son, Gage, she switched from full-time equine practice to small animal practice. Dr. Kappus was employed at Wexler Animal Hospital in Lafayette, La until moving to the East Texas area. She was an associate veterinarian at Quitman Animal Clinic in Quitman, TX for five years where she had a great opportunity to hone her ultrasound, medicine, and surgical skills. For the past two years, Dr. Kappus has been searching for the right practice to purchase and in April she purchased Little Animal Hospital.
Dr. Kappus has been married to her husband, Mike since 2006 and they have one son, Gage, and one daughter, Gentry. They have Jett, a Shetland sheepdog, and several horses. Dr. Kappus enjoys all aspects of practice, with a special interest in internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, and diagnostic ultrasound.
